So Ross Brawn is to become the Sporting Director of Formula One. This latest news promises to deliver some truly exciting outcome over the next few months.
Formula One has lately appeared as though it is governed by people with no experience in motor racing. Careless, ill-prepared rule changes thrown into the rule book in a blind hope they might shake up the order of a Grand Prix is no way to run a prestigious international sporting event.
Liberty Media have pulled off a massive feat in employing one of the most successful men in the history of the sport. Ross Brawn won championships with Benetton, Ferrari and his own team Brawn during his remarkable career. Now he will be able to bring all of that knowledge into bettering the sport the he perfected as an engineer.
I think this will signal an end to all the nonsensical decisions that have been made over the past few seasons. A new, pragmatic and precise approach will bring concise and effective regulations into place. No more confusing, and dubious loopholes which are acrimoniously exploited to the detriment of competition.
Today day could be the day that Formula One ceases to embarrass itself on a yearly basis. This will be a triumphant return to credible sporting superiority for Formula One. As long as Brawn is given the freedom to act on his ideas. The future is a bright one!
What do you hope to see from Ross Brawn’s new leadership? Will he be the man to lead Formula One to greater places?
