Modern day Formula One has become unrecognisable from its roots in the early 1950s. While the concept is the same –teams build the fastest car they can while the fastest drivers race them –there are some teams who have revolutionised that concept.

In this series of posts – Classic F1: The Revolutionaries, I will be highlighting some of the key points in Formula One history that have shaped the sport that exhilarates hundreds of millions of people world-wide.
